Allen Reilly - Bio
Allen Reilly attended Ardee Community School and following completion of his leaving certificate he studied at Dublin City University (DCU). Allen graduated from DCU in 1999 with an honours degree in Accounting & Finance (BAAF). Over the next four years Allen worked in financial services spending time in PFPC International, Hemisphere Hedge Fund Services and Bisys Hedge Fund Services. During this time he prepared financial statements for mutual and hedge funds while obtaining an acute awareness of the dynamics of the funds industry in Ireland. The compliance and regulatory parameters surrounding both mutual funds and hedge funds were of particular interest.
In 2004 Allen worked for a brief period in industry but an opportunity in 2005 to work in practice whetted the appetite and he has been immersed in the challenges of general practice ever since. Allen completed the exams of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2005.
From 2005 to early 2010 Allen worked as a senior accountant with Patrick R. Callan & Co. Both the economic boom and subsequent recession provided a comprehensive learning curve. Allen completed the exams of the Institute of Bankers and qualified as a Qualified Financial Advisor (QFA) in 2006.
In February 2010 Allen decided to form Allen Reilly & Co. The practice obtained a practicing certificate from ACCA and it has grown in each year since establishment. The practice provides accounting, tax and compliance services to a large number of limited companies, partnerships, sole traders and individuals. The client base represents a broad range of businesses operating throughout Ireland and the EU. The practice has embraced system and technology advances to realise efficiencies both in house and in the businesses of its clients. The modern world of tax and compliance requires many diverse skills and the practice has surrounded itself with associates in specialist fields, outside the normal remit of an accounting practice. The practice can call on these skills to assist clients when required.
In addition to tax and accounting work Allen has also provided his services in the following areas;
• Acting as the Central Bank approved MLRO (Money Laundering Reporting Officer) for an international financial services company.
• Acting as a non-executive director (NED) for a number of Irish companies.
• Acting as a financial advisor in respect of life and pension products.
Outside core tax, accounting and company law regulations Allen has a keen interest in broader compliance areas including employment law, data protection, the charities act and the consumer protection code.
Personal interests include sport (football, hurling and rugby), art and photography, reading, history, music, travelling and walking.
